Is there a easy way to get comp. codes on v6

VT GTR EXEC S1 - SOLD off
Or is it a Holden or garage only thing ?
want to be able to troubleshoot my car without running to dealer all the time,
I can get a reader from usa if anyone has tried one of theres? if so which one

Yes. You can short the right pins on the diagnostic link connector under the steering wheel and read the flash codes on the dash.

Go and get a Gregories manual for the car. Has the procedure plus tests to try depending on the fault code shown.

Go to the how to's section and there is a pdf file with all the error codes and testing method. U just need to bridge terminal 5 and 6.

I have my doubts that a reader from the states will be much good. the V6's dont run OBDII which (at a guess) is what most handheld readers run. Also even the GENIII's which kinda run OBDII wont work with a generic fault code reader. It sounds like the paperclip is the best option.

If anyone's got a laptop, get yourelf a serial cable ALDL or USB (new) off e-bay, plug into laptop, install software, and OFF YOU GO! You can even disable parts of your ECI to replicate faults for the sake of it. As well as reset computer and such...pretty kool actually
