Hello. Just wondering has anyone installed an LS3 engine into their series 1 SSV Redline VF? If so what do you need to do the conversion?

For the cost you would be better off slapping a blower on the current motor.

More cars than I've got space to park!
Agreed, that's a lot of money for an extra 200cc's (unless your old motor imploded and you have to buy one anyway)?

I've not done this but the L77 and LS3 are both Gen IV engines so all the external bolt-ons should be interchangeable, as should be the wiring and ECU, but of course the tune would be different.

Agreed.

A 2300 blower for similar cost would be my preferred use of $10k

The LS3 is internally a stronger engine ... if it was a lower chance of engine problems in 10 years you were after, rather than more powahs, an LS3 isn't a bad idea ... but you could probably get close to the cost of fitting a crate-engine by just trading a VF for a new VF2.

A good tune, cai and exhaust will get you to the power of a series II for about $3k. That is what I would do.

Not even 200cc, more like 160cc - 20cc per cylinder. A mild tune and 98RON fuel covers that.

The negative I have re the L77 is the lack of an exhaust note and the AFM to a lesser degree. There is a power difference of course vs the LS3 but I wouldn't be changing the motor for that reason alone. I'm a bit scared to venture down the exhaust upgrade as the prospect of droning looms large in my mind.
I'd be more inclined to trade up to a VF2 all things considered then you get the extra power of the LS3, bimodal exhaust, Bailee tip, induction 'sound enhancer' and lose the AFM. My 2014 series 1 auto doesn't have the paddle shifters so they would be a nice touch also.
Hmmm, I think I just about convinced myself it's time for an upgrade, just have to work on 'her indoors' which is a challenge.

Nobody would do the motor change. That would be a ridiculous waste of money.

And AFM you can disable. It's not as hard as you make it sound.

If you don't want to mod, upgrade as you say.

As flukey says - disable AFM. And bimodal exhaust, Bailey tips etc - they're the first thing to go for a proper exhaust in any real upgrade.
