[VIC] Motor too tight to start.

So. The story goes, I've regasketed the old 253, and do e the top end.
Now that I've done the rear main seal, the engine is far too tight to turn over, starter won't budge it.

What are some ways to get this thing started?

Once it's ran, it should be fine.
I'm sure it'll be good for others too.

i had a simmilar problem with mine but i had just done all the bearings and rings. it was the rings binding up a bit as it had been sitting a while since it was done. so i just put some oil down the spark plug holes overnight and fired up straight away. probably doesnt help but hey

pretty sure its auto. did you have the pistons out?

Not really, I didn't take everything apart.
It turned fine without the main bearing caps, and yes they're to correct torque.
I'm thinking 24v 2 batteries.

Which post goes to which post on that?

would that not just fry the starter. can you use a breaker bar and socket on the harmonic balancer.

I can turn it by hand with an extension bar and a metre length pole on top of that, do I just keep turning like that that till it gets better

i think its possible to prime the oil pump on these engines. if you keep trying to turn the engine over by hand it will just go dry and get worse
