hi everyone.

picked up a free 55 inch 4k lg tv that had blue/purple back light and ordered led back light strips and today (15/11/22) they turned up and tonight had replaced them and that has fixed the blue light problem.

now the problem is have noticed a crack in the panel as well.

wouldnt have been bothered about it but was hoping to use it to replace the 10 year old 47 inch led tv to allow more time to save for a better tv and now am not going to be able to use that tv and really want to upgrade to something bigger and better.

that tv with the broken panel would have been a small upgrade and would likely have allowed more time to save but probably wont be able to use it.

was wondering what a perfectly working secondhand 55-65 inch 4k led tv would likely cost to buy and how you could get the money quickly to get another secondhand one, dont want to spend too much but want a 4k one and must be a good brand.

lost the iphone 11 and still paying the laybuy for the replacement iphone and because of that am needing more time to save for a better tv and that tv with the broken panel was a 4k would have allowed more time to save for a oled or qled and now wont be able to use it but want a better tv with 4k and qled or oled.

where would you get a working secondhand 4k minimum 55 inch led tv from that isnt going to cost too much that will allow you more time, how would you get the money quickly if you dont earn much.

have a 55 inch tcl but thats only full hd with backlight problems.

the tcl back light sometimes works straight away and sometimes you got to turn it on and off a few times then itll work.

was wondering if it might be the light strips themselves or if it might be the led driver board and wether the led board might be built into the power supply board.

the tcl is a 55s6000fs if it helps anyone work it out.

how do you find the money quickly when you dont earn enough and are trying to pay the laybuy on your replacement iphone.

would kogan 4k 55 inch be worth buying just to just to have more time to save for a better tv (plan to get hisense u7 or u8 series 65-75 inch which is closest to oled or a lg oled), whats quality of kogan, will it last a year or 2 while you save for the hisense.

notice dick smith ship tvs

would it be worth asking a local tv retail shop if they might have a tv exactly same as the one with broken panel with a blown power supply that has a good panel still that they may want to sell for cheap.

would cash converters have 4k 55 inch secondhand working tvs for good prices that may be a small upgrade that may allow more time to save.

would looking on marketplace be worth looking into, would it be worth putting in a wanted add.

if anyone could please help with answers thatd be great

thanks

Are kogan tvs from dick smith and jvc tvs from bigw any good and will they allow a year or 2 to save for a better tv with qled or oled

Will they last long enough.

Would it be worth going to a tv shop and asking them if they’re throwing out tvs like the one with broken screen with blown power supply or tvs with blown power supplies that’ll take that model power supply

If you’re a person who likes upto date tech would it be ok putting up with out of date stuff until they die or would it be better doing what schools do and replace every so many years on a schedule.

Those of you that work at a school in the it department how have you done your schedule

I was going to suggest a couple of the above but that wins post of the week.

Can we close the thread now?
