painting rims

hey all
i was just wondering wat i would need to paint my rims on my car
they are just stock black steelies but i want to try and make them look like interceptors untill i get mags
so what would i need?
and how much paint would i need cause i want to do atleast 2 coats on each rim

wat kinda primer would i wanna use tho and roughly how much for 2 coats of silver on 4 rims like how many cans

would think one can should be heaps. I did my old datto wheels with one can. didnt bother with primer and never had any issues.

bare metal should have etch primer put on it, otherwise just any old metal primer will do.

yeah a few coats of silver or chrome paint would probably do, there is special paint at AutoBarn for mag wheels, but thats all upt o you.

Having worked at an exhaust shop, everytime I painted wheels silver I used silver heat resistant paint. No primer, just gave them a bit of a wipe to get all the dirt and crap off and the painted them. Any silver enamel will do as it sticks to anything. Don't use an acrylic as this will react to any impurities that may be on the rim.

How much would it cost to get rims powder coated... much better finish, tougher and doesn't chip.
