I hope they get donated, otherwise i wish they'd just buy more commodores and pay the poor cops a bit more. Hell they deserve more than they get, so i hope the gov. isnt spending money on fancy cars, at the end of the day a cop car is a cop car, lights come on and you'll pull over regardless what the car looks like.

hehe I read something by a cop when he first got his marked Lancer

some idiot in a GTS-T skyline said "I know for a fact my Skyline could out run it"

He replied "when you see the lights flash and hear the siren I bet you stop"

the skyline owner said "wouldnt have too, I just told you I could out run you easily"

cop replied "yeh your right why would I even bother to chase after you ... I can just meet you at home and we'll talk then"

Cars are a TINY cost for government. They pay no taxes on them and get MASSIVE fleet discounts. $20,000 for an SS cop car for example. They put 40,000km on them and sell them at auction, sometimes getting MORE for them than what they paid for them.

And most the cars they get are the "defected" ones, not defected as in unroadworthy but just minor things that wont make the car sell. (could be a scratch on the pain work, or something wrong with the carpet/dash etc....

coz their donated by the manufacturer as community based policing. You will never get pulled over by a Tiida (they dont even have flashing lights) the Monaros and stuff different story, but hey it gets guys like us talking about it hey, otherwise would we be having a decent conversation about cops instead of just bagging them out when we f*ck up?

Oh and as for the unmarked F6 Typhoons you'd be surprised the number of idiots in NSW who will still drag race one THEN realise what it was despite the fact its got a black box sitting on the dash ...

the fully unmarked VE SS-V's are another one, you'd think the 3 mobile phone antennas on the rear window, massive CB antenna, GPS antenna or perhaps the radar hanging off the rear window would give it away yet some people still do stupid things around it without even realising ...

Mate you are right on the money some of the cars are donated, companys will lend the police force the car.
You don't have to be in an umarked car for some clown wanting to drag you off, as you said some people do stupid things.
