VF SSV Redline
My Redline is my first ever Holden so I am not a dyed-in-the-wool fanatic like some here who have driven GM product all their lives.
I am probbaly more a Ford guy but have owned BMW's and Chryslers when I was young.

And as my car is nearly 3, I am thinking about changing it over already.
My main criteria is sub 5 seconds performance from factory, and then it will be about comfort, features and looks.
It may mean an LSA Clubsport but the car is at end of life and Mylink drives me insane.

I love to drive so will always want a drivers car. But there are few choices now for reasonable money.
I am actually going to test drive a M235i on Saturday but its a very small car by comparison.

So what is the plan for others here? Religiously stick to GM product and adopt the Insignia or look at other options?

It sounds like I'm about as much a fan of Holden as you are.
We only have a VF because we had 10 comfortable, trouble-free & cheap years out of the VS Ecomoo we bought off an uncle when it was 10 years old; without the positive experience with the VS, my impression of Commodores would've been from Dad's company-car days (VR and before), and wow they improved from VS on (OK, they still made some mistakes, HFV6 anyone?).

Answer really is "dunno". I've not previously been able to justify the cost of changing cars all the time, so it's most likely we'll just keep the Redline for at least 10 years.
The better half is talking about a new MX5, but she doesn't intend selling the Redline, so I suspect we'll most likely just be sitting on both of those for at least 10 years, and the Mk1 Escort will take me at least that long to get on the road. :)

I really don't know what I'd choose if it had to be new, and bigger than a BMW 2-series.
I mean, if I were affording an M235i & happy with the size, I'd also be looking at an RS3 (throbby 5 cylinder goodness) and notionally the AMG CLA45 wagon interests me (very much Because Small Wagon).

I wouldn't say I wouldn't get an Insignia, not without even having seen what it's like in VX-R form, but the thought doesn't excite me as much as the thought of my first-ever V8 Commodore did. And I'd like a car to excite me in some way or other.

If it weren't so expensive, the upcoming Volvo V90 T8 would excite me, and I'm pretty sure it's got LSA Clubby performance, but then I'm weird and have a 242 project-car. And they won't come in manual, a fact I've just remembered & which deflates my excitement-level somewhat, even though the better-half doesn't do manual anyway.

I love the Redline, I just don't know if I love it enough to dive back into another one.
I would love another V8 and if the Mustang had better availability, would order one today. 12 months or more is too long for me to wait.

We have been spoilt with the Commodores and Falcons and with them gone, the choices are less appealing.

Mmm, I just Googled that AMG CLA45 Shooting Brake ... 0-100 in 4.3s, yet the combined-cycle fuel usage is 7.3L/100km ... that's less shabby than I thought! :)
Problem is, RRP may be the same as an LSA Clubbie, but I bet you can't knock $10k off RRP like you can a Clubbie.

I’ll always have Holdens in my garage but I can’t say if I’ll ever buy a new one.

I have a C63S on order with an end of year delivery date so I guess MB is my next go to car but after that who knows as it’s impossible to see into the future and tell what will appear on the market that may tickle my fancy.

I know I'll be keeping my current VF2 Ute and personally I hope we get to see a broader range of Yank muscle cars to compete with the Mustang but I won’t hold my breath.

Having seen a couple of Cadillac ATS V models, sedan and coupe being tested here, I wouldn't say no to the coupe. Would happily park one of them in the garage.

That would be my first choice but I am not spending that money on a car, even if it will be through my work.

A used BMW X5m is going to fit the bill nicely. Depreciated and appreciated at 3-4 years old/ 60k km/ one third rrp.

VFII SSV Redline Ute
The VF1 SSV ute is my first Holden ever, moved from the Ford XR6 Turbo ute which was a good car but I kept reversing into things at building sites because it didn't have a reverse camera. Might as well I didn't hit the top of model with my first Holden, so my next ute will be a VF2 redline. Can't think of any other Holdens are any interested to me. Have a Mazda CX9 for family car which hardly used as wife has her Audi S1 and daughter drives a Honda Jazz. Would love to have a Audi RS7...after winning tonight's lottery.
