Car was in my garage for 1 week pulling it apart to get the lifters out so i could clean them.
I soaked them in gasoline to relief the pressure so i could open them.
Disassembled them.
Soaked them in gasoline over night.
Went at the pieces with a toothbrush and engine decreaser.
Went at them again with a dishwashing detergent.
Rinsed them.
Soaked them in engine oil over night.
Put them back together
Soaked them in engine oil overnight.
Put them back in the engine at their original places.

Drained the engine oil
Flushed the engine with an oil flush
Put the factory recommened oil in the engine

Went for a drive aaaaaannndddd....CAR STILL TICKS! :(

It's the same ticking that lifters make. Increases with the RPM and is coming from the top intake manifold. Over ten mechanics said it was the liftes prior to cleaning them.

HELP PLZ!!

OK...got a question. Can i use 2nd hand lifters from the wreckers? Or do they have to be new ones?

Heard if i used lifters off another car, they will damage my camshaft. Is this true? Or it doesn't apply to the type of lifters on an ecotec?? The lifters on my car got rollers at the base as opposed to other lifters i've seen from other cars which are flat. I'm thinking the base of the flat ones gets shaped to the cam hence putting other 2nd hand lifters will not slot in perfectly causing the cam to be damaged. But since the ones off the ecotec roll, they dont get shaped so it would be safe to use similar lifters off another car.
IDK, im just assuming here. Anyone with knowledge on this please shed some light!

You definitely need new ones. Old ones from a wreckers etc will be worn.. What oil do you use?
