Put one rim on and not sure if I like it yet. Need to get it out and see it from a distance

Spent the day stripping bits from the Calais.

This will be installed soon but looks like a bitch of a job. So much sexier than current dash though

It's a fun job. Took me a few hours doing mine. Wear gloves. Metal edges are sharper than knives. I ended up with cuts everywhere doing mine. Edward scissor hands.

Yeah I'm not looking forward to it. One thing I'm unsure of is the wiring. The caprice dash I have is foreign to the vehicle it is currently in. The loom appears to run length of dash (hazards, demister , cluster etc etc) and then plugs in under the dash near the fuses. Am I right in presuming this will plug into mine or am I in for a world of hurt? The ute is a series 1 poverty pack.

I was going to install climate control but it is wayyy different to the setup I have.

Also thinking of putting Calais door cards in it but need to see if the rear fabric bits are same as the front as they are clean as.

So much crap to transfer! I thought I was done for a while too....

Well, all the bits are there for Climate Control.
My acclaim plugged straight into the stato dash. Everything worked. Just gotta run the wire for the trip comp.

Thanks for the info.

I was also wondering whether CD player, cig lighter and all the other centre console parts are part of the loom that comes with the dash or are they left untouched?

Reason I ask is that means I would have to go climate control and other nightmares for the stereo setup would arise

What have I done!!

Haha about three hours into it. Only hurdle is four wires I had to cut to remove dash. They were integrated somehow.

I've left access to them to fix later. Also had to cut tweeters for now.

I shall not sleep until this sucker is in

No idea. Maybe the autronic or alarm system or something. It does fancy **** like auto window windup when you lock with button on keypad.

Progressing none the less

Oil light staying on
Right indicator on dash does not light up (external lights are working)
Middle screen is faded
Lose all cluster lights when headlights are turned on

I think I'm in over my head folks

Think I gotta study the old plugs where the weird wiring was and try an copy it somehow. I think the actual cluster is ####ed too causing a few issues. Noticed the back green part of it was a bit grubby and worn which would cause issues.

Anyone know where to get a diagram telling me what wires are what? Thanks
