2008 VE SS Ute
Hey guys,

I have a blown 2008 VE SS Ute pumping out 774hp and 1,048Nm at the treads. I've just finished with my Nitto NT05 rear tyres which were the first semi slick I tried after the blower went on. I was looking to step up to the NT01, but some shops are telling me they don't have them or can't get them anymore (something about Nitto stopping with those tyre and doing 4WD tyres), so it's sounding like a no go unfortunately. As alternatives to the NT01, I've got 2 others in mind so far:

1. Nitto NT555R2
2. Yokohama ADVAN A052

Tyre size will be 275/40/R18 and it's for the street. Does anyone have experience with these 2 tyres? Any recommendations for one over the other, or maybe even neither of them and another tyre is a better option?

I have Mickey Thompson R/T street for the strip only. (Wear rating 000)
I believe NT555 were a step back from this. (050 maybe)
How many km's are you expecting from a rear set? Because anything that could possibly harness the power, should not be expected to last long.

Not too worried about the k's i get out of them (the NT05's lasted me ages), especially the fact that it's not my daily driver. I really just want the traction for the street.

Disclaimer: I have no first hand experience with either tyre.

Looks like 100 wear rating on the nitto.
200 on the Yokohama.

I would say, will you ever drive in the wet?
Yes - Yoko
No - nitto
