i would like peoples advice on what to look for in a spray gun to spray out metallic and clear. obviously lowest price is best, but the supercheap auto gun i have atm is not cutting it and i want to look at something better.

i dont have a price in mind. value for money is what i am going for and it that means i have to pay 800, well then i will start saving :p

thanks.

although showing me links to guns is pretty good. i was wondering more along the lines of: what makes a good gun. how are they checked, for example a compressor is measured in CFM, FAD and litre capacity... surely there are means to look at a good gun.

if its just brand and price, then i am screwed.

Really the only way to check a gun is to spray with it. The only specs you have to watchout for is the cfm it requires. Steer clear of hvlp guns as you need a huge compressor to run them. For base and clear look for a 1.3 or 1.4 tip. Best all round guns are devilbiss gti. The star century guns are the only cheap guns i would bother with they are a good copy of an iwata w400. How much are you looking at spending?

Thats a good price for that gun. Even though its a hvlp it only uses 9.8 cfm. How big is your compressor?
