Hi,
The parking brake on the VZ is designed to be self energising (ie Leading Shoe) if the car wants to move forward. Unfortunately, if the car wants to move back, the shoe geometry will ease off ( ie trailing shoe).
What all this means is that the parking brake is bettter forward than back! It is inherent in the design.
The only improvement is to clean the dust out of the small drum.
