Hi I have a 1996 VS Wagon,

Every now and then, maybe every 2 weeks, the stop lamp fuse will blow.
What is causing this? I have replaced all globes and they are to spec as originals,
have even tried a higher rated fuse same thing.

Is there a common area where the harness can rub down to the chassis or something like that
but I'd imagine it's very hard to happen given the chassis is painted and harness is insulated
etc.

Thanks.

Loose connection at the bulb holder, or switch up under dash at the pedal maybe.
Also check the trailer plug if it has one.
Is the stop lamp the only thing on that fuse ?

Pretty sure stop lamp is the only thing on the fuse.

Just wondering how can a bad contact at a bulb holder blow a fuse, i don't see how that would cause
excessive power to be drawn to blow the fuse or can it somehow short out the pos and neg. checked it anyway and replaced with other bulb holders that are known to be good.

but anyway the bulb holders have been changed a while back
with ones from another car that never blew fuses (Pulsar N13 ones fit in), the commodore bulb holder always kept making
bad contact with the bulb and i've noticed so many commodores with the same problem.

Brake switch it's not shorting onto anything I checked so can't see that blowing any fuses.

Trailer plug I'm thinking could be the only thing left that could be doing it.

According to the VS wiring diagram, the stop lamp fuse should be fuse number 8 which is a 15A fuse. As well as the stop lamps, it also shows that one of the BCM circuits also uses this fuse.

well Your right guys turned out the trailer plug at the end had no cover so they were loose to short out around the spare tyre where it was tucked away, I found a cap for it and now I'll see how it goes.
