Hey fellas

Last week end (so the one before we just had) I put in some new front KYB struts and kept the existing strut tops as they still looked fine. Put them in now worries, but just checking things out today and it looks like the top rubber is like lifted off? Now I cant remember if this is the way its suppose to be or not? And I'm really sketching out and really dont want to drive it far!

My question is, are they suppose to look like that? Or are they suppose to sit flat?

First two pictures are of the passenger side one which looks like its up higher than the driver side (Third Pic)

Thanks!

Mark.

Can you turn them by hand? I suggest tighten them up a bit more.

50-60 Nm is the correct torque for the strut retaining nut while keeping the strut rod from turning. Looks like you have already over-tightened the support plate retaining nuts going by the damage to their faces, they only require 24-30 Nm. There is a note in my manual that you have to ensure that the upper strut bearing is oriented in the same way it was before you took it out.
