Suspicious stain??

That sounds like a real pain, Ill definately do the screw clamps, acarmody. When you changed the 2 way valve out, did you have to drop all the coolant?? or just change everything a just top up with coolant???

Well my coolant was already all over the road and 1km away, so I wasn't going back for it

You would be able to retain most of the ccolant by clamping the hoses (assuming you aren't changing them), I personally would just dump all the coolant and make sure everything is nice and new.
