quick question?
when giving it a go or when at the track, what is a safe rpm level to shift?
and also the optimum rpm level before you start losing power?

every driver is different, it depends how fluent you are with the change itself and a few other factors like clutch setup, tyres etc.

As for losing power? You wont lose power high in the rpm, max torque is at 3200 rpm so you wont get more acceleration then what you do at 3200.

If your slow through the gears, change higher into the red, if your quick just before or right on the red

That's not entirely true, in (very basic) terms, torque x Revs = HP.


Generally providing your clutch is in good order and changes are smooth, the higher rpm u can change, the better. So you might as well max it out...

Beware of overheating with commodores under high load at the track though :( not really built for racing purposes, so brake fade and prolonged sessions at high rpm can see your temperature gauge shoot up.

Don't be dumb... I said very basic terms, obviously there's more to it... but the math is the same.

IF: at 2000rpm you make 300NM
AND: at 4000rpm you are still making exactly 300NM

Your "HP" output will be exactly double at 4000rpm... make sense?

unfortunately torque is not linear, so neither is the power output. But, more RPM means more power (as long as there's no major drop in torque)
