Two mornings in the last week and a half i have gone to start the car to go to work and turned the key and it didn't start. All accessories came on as usual but it didn't start, and got a message on the computer displaying "service vehicle soon." I've then turned the key to off and tried starting the car again and no worries.
Anyone know whats up?
It's not due for a service for another 6-7000 kms.
It's a 04 SV6 by the way.

Thanks in advance

I had the same problem. It turned out to be the metal ring that the key head comes in contact with at the ignition. Had this replaced and haven't had a problem since.

well service vehicle soon means it has a not emmisions related fault coded logged,

id start by disconnecting the battery, than clean the metal ring on the ignition barrell, just levering it out a little aswell, clean the metal contact on the key head, and while your there clean the battery terminals and reconnect, see how it goes.

is the key head still operating correctly?

some fault codes may clear themselves if a reference that is needed returns next ignition cycle

the code will still be logged but stored in a history section, not in the current

you wont need it for a vy/vz/ve, the radio is linked with the bcm, it will remember the code unless you pull the radio out
