    Hi Guys,
Just bought my first holden ever last week the VE Commodore SS-V and I must say compared to cars I've owned in the past the billion dollar investment seems to be paying off, Ive been amazed by the handling of this car, Ive got two questions I was hoping some members might be able to answer.

I've havent been unable to find what the offical 0-100km time is for the SS-V and/or 1/4 mile times, so if anyone has any info it would be appreciated, (either reference or real experience) unlike the HSV site which gives the 0-100km times the holden site doesnt :ranting: (BTW mines auto with triptonic) and the only reference I could find seemed a little quick at 5.2sec

Also has anyone had experience with mods and the effects it does or doesnt have on warranty? Silver water autos offered some peformance upgrades, eg, mod air intake, computer management chip and exaust modifications. Anyone done similar with car under warranty and had issues or certain engine components voided from warranty?? On holden vehicles?

Any help or advice would be appreciated

    thanks all

    :)

    cool,
thanks for the info mate, so running at 14.2 your probably looking at about 5.5 0-100km??? So you used the triptronic in that drag with the stability off? As Im broke as after the recent purchase and looking to to mods over a period of time what would you suggest doing first? Gotta admit Im know my way around a car but somewhat of a newbie when it comes to mods.

Pretty sure the VESS is 13.8 secs 1/4, quicker then the SSV as no luxury pack in them.

Re CAI - get onto ebay ... I bought a ripper for under $300 from "the orgional parts group" ... now selling for around $240. I then made an under body scoop and cut three large holes in the plastic under the body behind the driving lights to force cold air into the pod filter.

Also did my own exhaust mod for under $200 with 2 x 2 1/2" 90 degree mandrel bends, some pipe, couple of flanges, and two new stainless mufflers I bought on ebay for $80. Replaced the two resonators with twin pipes for 2 x 3 1/2 stainless pipes. (see pics)

Just ask around before you spend big bucks on a bigger exhaust ... I started to get a lot of info that less back pressure was actually dropping HP. Can't confirm or not.

I have a stock as a rock SS-V with a heap of tools in the boot. Runs 14.0 on the g-tech. I may see a tenth or so if I got rid of the tools etc.

The extra weight in these suckers must really hurt them.

Does anyone know how much an SS or SSV actually weighs? I've asked three separate Holden dealers and none of them could tell me. They all looked in the specs and it said something along the lines of "contact Holden for more information".

The reason why i asked was that despite the 270kW, the autos felt about as quick as my VY SS during the test drive, if not slightly less. I then drove a manual and it only felt a touch quicker than mine.

Not really - extra power makes up for it :D

    Thanks Josh

That explains a lot. The SSV's I drove were more than 200kg heavier than my VY SS (1590kg).

They are quicker than a VZ SS though are they not, despite the rise from 1654kg from the VZ SS, to 1790kg now?

So the little extra power does seem to make up for it?
