VE SV6 Sportswagon
Hi,
i have a VE Series 2 MY11 , SV6 Sportswagon , and would like to wire in a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 electric brake controller. Has anyone had any experience with wiring up this particular model vehicle before or have any handy info on how to do it. Any info would be appreciated. Cheers.

Jeff.

what do you need to know?
run positive and negative cable from battery to brake unit, use a 20 amp circuit breaker as close to the battery for the positive wire.
run a wire from brake unit to trailer plug for the electric brake wire.
run a wire from your brake light or trailer plug brake light wire to brake unit.
you can also run a power feed from the battery to your trailer plug if your trailer or caravan needs a power wire, use a fuse holder with a 20 amp fuse.

best to use minimum 5mm cable for power, earth and electric brake wires to the brake unit.
also earth the brake unit to the straight to the battery not chassis.

Read this on another forum on VE model posted in 2008. QUOTE "DO NOT connect into the brake light switch like some people suggest, run the blue and red either to the trailer base plug or to the 2 pin plug that is available out of the module (behind the drivers side panel in the boot).
However he/she did not give a reason as to why. Any ideas?

most new cars alot of things are computer controlled so getting the brake feed from the switch isnt possible unlike older cars.
best to join into the red brake wire in the trailer plug itself.

Also where is the best place to run the wires.

battery is on the left in the back so the wires going to the brake controller can run under the passenger side plastic sill covers then cross to the drivers side behind the glovebox area.
