VE SV6 brakes

Hey guys,

Had my sv6 since march this year bought it new, so far have done just under 20,000kms, and my brakes are starting to sqeek!!

i know that there isnt a figure on how long they should last for but is 20,000kms a little low? anyone change their beakes since new? how many kms should i be getting average?

mines around 30k and theres no sqeeking?

mine are at 48,000 and no squeaking.. try washing ur wheels could be built up of break dust

Mines at 34,000k and the squeaking is on and off...

ye mine was on and off but the last week it has been pretty much constant, so just a hose off of the brakes may make a difference?

mines got a brake kit now, but my old brakes had 30000km on them and looked brand new still the wonders of a manual.

Get them looked at, probably it is the wear indicator tab that is contacting the disc. It is possible that a rock has bent it and causing it to make contact, but just in case it is something worse like shagged pads, I'd want to make sure..... the cost of getting it checked is far far worse than the potential alternative.

I've got same problem in mine.

Mine's only done 3300kms...

The pads can't have gone by now??

is it squelling or a chattering squeek pull the wheel off you should easaly be able to tell how much brake pad material is left on the pads. just like any mass produced components there are some faulty ones so get them check if you are not sure
also check your disc for any scoring like ther might be a stone or somthing stuck in the pads
