Hi all,
Wanting to give the audio a cheap upgrade as the speakers are horrible. Can I do this.........
Pull out 4x door speakers and replace with 6inch whatever's. Dissconnect centre dash speaker, and not touch the the splits in the corner of the dash.
Not after anything flash just an improvement.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the speedy response mate.
The center dash speaker reminds me of my VK Vacationer lol
And idea what brand speakers are a good fit with no mods?

Focal (look French made in China). Good enough drivers for $200 / pair.

The center speaker is rubbish. A good idea to disconnect it since its really easy to access. No need for it.

Apparently 6" or 6.5" will fit the doors.
I have only tried 6" though.

Trust me that it will not sound any better with upgraded speakers. I did the same in mine and was disappointed with the result. I ended up adding an amp which made a huge difference.

I have a series 1 sv6 however added the iq headunit. The old blaupunkt headunit did sound a lot better than the IQ and I think the only way to get it sounding better is by adding an amp.

Drive around with the center speaker disconnected, you might find it a worthwhile improvement.

As previously stated you will need to add an amp to get the best out of your new speakers. I have 6.5 kickers in the back doors .they fit without any modification . And splits in the front . Definitely disconnect the centre speaker , doing that alone is a big improvement .

If you choose to go an amp, and I think you should, centre speaker is muxed (yes that’s right not mixed), means high frequency sound stage across the dash is like Dolby 3+2 or 5.1 with sub. Five speakers spatially muxed will always be better than 4 discreet replication of stereo.
Centre speaker does have a function in the context of 21st Century HiFi. No need to go to extraordinary lengths to equalise output, there is superior clarity per 5.1 TV broadcasts at normal centre output levels, and greater separation at louder volume. Sweet.
