Ve sv6 What oil?

Hi guys,
I'm due for a service soon and was wondering if anyone could reccomend a good oil? I'm after performance and good engine protection? What's your favourite brand and grade for the 195kw alloytech?

I put castrol magnetec 5w 30 in mine its also fully synthetic but you can also put in 10w oil just as long as its synthectic so your engine dosnt sludge up so castrol or mobi get my vote valverline is also good??

I used magnatec 10w30 years ago but stopped due to sludge build up. I think that was when it was only semi-synth though. I like castrol edge 5w30. Under 50 bucks a bottle. If I could validate the price, I'd go for Royal Purple every time. You think Mobil's expensive? lol. A lot of people swear by penrite and Nulon's good too.

im a mechanic at a holden dealer and we just use castrol 10w/30 in the ve's. my personal preference is penrite oil. if you got to either the penrite website or castrol website you can use the lube guide.

what are the effects of running a 5w30 compared to 10w 30 in terms of protection

The 5w30 is a bit thinner when cold, so it flows through the motor quicker which is what you want when the motor is in good condition. It helps reduce wear on parts at start up.

Apon looking in my shed it appears i was wrong about what i put in and i actully put in castrol edge
5w 30 fully synthetic and so far so good
