Hey guys. Looking at some ve ssv wheels for my vz calais.

What do I have to do to make them fit? I'm aware that they have to be machined. But what about the wheel nuts, studs etc?

know has ever done this before!!!

you guys should have done a quick search seeing as the needed information has been around since 2006!!!!!!

-re-machine center bores from 69mm to 70mm
-cos your going from M14 studs to M12 get tapered nut with a LARGE tapper/mushroom head.
-buy new tyres. VE tyres WILL NOT WORK ON ANY PRE-VE CAR

I small error the centre bore for VB-VZ wheels is 70.1mm.
On VT-VZ's the part of the hub where the brake disc sits is 71.3 but the wheel hub is still only 70mm same as VB-VS

The wheel nuts I have used in the past and will be using again from Friday are VY/VZ Calais nuts to suit standard 12mm stud. I believe (but could be wrong) that the Calais nuts have slightly more of the chamfered/angled section than normal steely nuts, so provide more contact area to secure the wheel. The nut pulling through the rim would not be a good look.

Remember, accurate centre bore machining is important, not just so they fit but because it is THE major load-bearing part of the rim, the nuts mainly locate and secure them. In my opinion, overlooking this is the cause of some of the stories told about snapped studs etc.

I have run VE SS and VE SSV on my last VY. Getting rubber sorted for fitment of VE Calais "V" rims to the VZ on Friday :spot on:

Will post pics somewhere on here :)

2011 VE Calais V rims wearing 235/40 Potenzas on the VZ. Look a lot better than the standard rims which looked like hubcaps to me..

Excuse phone photo.
