Hi all,

New member, although I had multiple Commodores as company cars up until 2017. Well..I had a couple after that but they aren't proper Commodores, are they? ;)

I’ve got a VF SSV Wagon - 150k km, the EML came on last week.

On Thursday (after another 75km with the light on) it was looked at by a Holden Service Centre and they diagnosed the Oil Pressure Sensor. They replaced it, cleared the codes, and I drove it home (about 60km). Did another 5km on Friday with no issues (I'm watching the light very closely), and then this morning it wouldn't remote start...

Started it with the button and the EML is back. I borrowed a code reader and P0521 is showing.

There are no odd noises / vibrations; it starts and idles fine; and runs well with no obvious issues in terms of lack of power.

Given it has a new sensor then all I can think of is:
  • Bad harness
  • The DOD filter needs cleaned or replaced
  • Oil Pump
  • Something horrible
Can anyone think of anything else it could be?

If it genuinely had low oil pressure, would the code stay cleared for a few km before it came back, or would it trigger straight away?

did it fault because it had a leak at the sensor ? if so then if the oil isnt cleaned out of the plug when the new sensor fitted and oil in connector still the new sensor will fault also, but if it wasnt leaking then not sure as its range/performance issue so its not thought to be operating correctly

I just had checked by taking some phone pics.

No sign of any oil leak at all - it is all clean at the back. Nice shiny sensor as well.

There are no other warning lights: oil level / pressure etc.

I did a couple threads and commented on this very same thing,
And another thread of a similar issue previously.
It might save you a few $’s from the “Stealer” Saying the OPS is faulty AGAIN !,
The original OPS 12621234, and the supposedly superseded one is 12673134,
But neither one fixed the issue,
The thing that did fix it was to use compressed air down the oil tube of the OPS hole. "After you remove the AFM Filter"

Also clean the AFM gauze filter below the OPS,
I have provided a copy of how to remove that.

I am tipping the pickups get partially blocked/clagged up, so not enough oil can be supplied to the oil ports/venturies, so it the triggers the P0521,
This the reason I use Diesel Oil,
And change it every $5,000 k’s,
Including the filter.

Thanks for the advice and links.

I’ll suggest going down that path to the repairer.

I’ll suggest going down that path to the repairer.
The ideas are for members and shouldn't be disclosed to 3rd parties,
If you tell the repairer,
he will possible charge you for repairing it,
Which is a Financial Deception.

Being you have done the research,

You could do the items as discussed yourself, to save you hard earned $'s
