My VF Ute no longer can connect to GPS satellites so maps not working .
Any easy solution to this ?
Not that I use it much its clunky software is appalling so I use Waze .
the gps module in the roof might have died.
the gps uses a special receiver module in the base of the roof mount to communicate with satellites and if that dies you will no longer get sync and the mylink will show searching all the time.
you can just buy a new aftermarket receiver module with a fakra connection like this
GPS Antenna and connect it to the mylink base unit then put it in the dash above the glovebox and it should work fine.
if it is not the receiver module then the mcu for the gps might have died in the mylink.
if it was me i would try with a aftermarket gps receiver module to rule that part out and if it starts working again then you have the solution.
i would be much cheaper than buying a whole new roof mount from gm to find out that the issue is inside the mylink.
