Last year i did an ADL-MLB trip and managed to get down to 6.8l per 100. Two people in car with a couple bags. 3.6 Auto.
Arrived in Melbourne with just over a quarter tank to spare. Compare this to most similar engine and car sizes it's damn good.

i did adelaide to melbourne in the lss3 ute and got it down to 9l/100km that was fairly light on throttle and could have made it on one tank to blackburn, luckily didnt try as peak hour was bad enough. return was 9.5L maybe because of the climb towards ballarat.
