Yours is nearly new still! My other car (VN) never shudders or vibrates on takeoff and it's up to almost 270000 now.

96 V6 VS
same problem

Ive got a 96 VS and it has the same vibration, Ive just done all engine and gearbox mounts, replaced center bearing and constant velocity joint, replaced the uni's and got the tail shaft balanced and it still does it. i can only guess that it must be the box.

very annoying, done 212000km.

Check the upper control arms on the diff if its non-IRS (solid). They wear and allow the back axle to shudder.

VS Commodore V6
Provided the drive shaft universals and centre bearing O.k; I strongly suggest you replace the rear suspension upper trialing arm bushes with low compliance polyurethane units. It will fix the problems. I have cured many Commodores with this fix.

The heavy duty polyurethanes will eliminate axle wind up (axle tramp) caused by the soft factory rubber bushes (which if haven't been replaced are probably buggered now anyway).

Nolathane have bush kits and replacement arms available

My 96 VS wagon has the same shudder, I am going to replace the rear bushes and when I get the money apparently there is something in the tail shaft that can cause it

i had new commodore wagons when i was in telstra. the problem was the top arms on the diff being too long or too short. they put new ones in and the diff angle was differant and that cured it, ask a holden dealer. they know about the shudder.
