With prices today to buy a salisbury then rebuild with better lsd & new gears or even vl b/w diff getting an all new 9 inch is not much more

So it turns out after having a proper look the plate in the engine bay says
Built: NOV 84
Axle: GU4

Under the car is filthy but I have attached some photos of the rear diff. Can anyone confirm it’s breed?

That is the rubbish diff with u bolts....leave it in car untill it explodes.

I decided to leave same diff in my vk when realised the stock 6cyl trimatic tailshaft bolted straight in lol

Cheers mate, last of my worries right now. Been having an all day argument with the elusive door hinge pins

Drown in wd40 or pb blaster stuff a couple times during day & walk away

That’s where I’m at now mate. It’s both bottom pins on both front doors too. Absolute root

door pins are the worst. fight with them everytime. Never have an easy removal/refit.

Pin removal continues, we are down to one bottom pin in the front passenger door that had snapped off at the halfway point inside due to corrosion.

However, I have found a borg warner diff 20 minutes away that the seller claims is out of a VL, it looks to have drum brakes on the rear. All they can tell me is it has 3.23 ratio.
Is it worth grabbing if I can get it for a couple hundred?
Can I remove the brake assembly off the spare vs diff with LSD centre I got with the donor car? (Ute)

Try to haggle say you want 3.45 diff vl diff & not sure wtf it's out of lol

3.23 diff is more likely vk diff iirc...pull axles out if equal length even more likely later model vk.....vl diffs have uneven axles & n/a 6cyl are 3.45 afaik.

Can fit your 4 pinion lsd in but need new 28 spline axles with disc brake seals or can keep it 25 spline single spinner & have new bearings toi axles with correct disc brake seal (axle seals different thickness from drum to discs)

Either way measuring axles will truly tell you if vl or vk...make sure you know what it is when buying new 28 spline axles.

Hanbrake cables can be bought new through Rare Spares or need your ute items shortened.

*shock absorber brackets are for sedan
