VR Knocking noise but not engine

Hey guys ive got a weird knock/rattle coming from my vr when started and when running, its slightly irregular but doesnt seem to be an engine knock after listening and checking everything with a mechanics stethoscope. It sounds like its coming from the transmission/ the back of the engine. No performance or driving differences just noise. Any ideas on what it could be?

All the mounts seem solid, sounds more like its coming from within the front of the gearbox i think possibly the flexplate? I pulled the starter out though and there were no marks of anything hitting it

flex plate loose or cracked(if auto) balance shaft rear bearings are rooted
