hi just wondering am i going to have any issues if i put my vt brake master cylinder in my vs without putting vt brakes on the front?

if anything ide imagine it would be better with it than the vs master?

i know ve upgrade is better but vt is way cheaper hence why im going down that road.

cheers jamie

Cut off the small bolt flush with the front pushrod of the booster end and it will bolt up fine
check it out in THIS LINK from another website
disregard the stuff about flare adapters as that refers to earlier models not yours
If youre leaving your old discs on it might be better to get a better set of front pads

thanks i had already seen that page.
it wont be too long until i upgrade the rotors.
im guessing it will just make the standard brakes work harder in the mean time.
cheers

You will get a shorter pedal and the
brakes will seem to work harder for less effort

I had a VT master on my VS for a while, before fitting the VT calipers.

The pedal was shorter and the brakes reacted quicker but I had to stand on the pedal a bit harder to get the same deceleration.
This is due to the bore of the master going up from the VS 7/8" to the VT 1".

ok thanks for the info.
when i got the vt master from the wreckers i fitted it to a vs booster but removed the bolt in the booster first
but it seemed to still be about 1mm too long, did u have to cut the hollow part that the screw goes into the pin in the booster to get it flush or the 1mm doesnt matter?
just dont want the brakes working at all while im driving.

I left the adjusting bolt in the pushrod and made up a spacer out of some 5mm (I think, it was a few years ago) aluminium plate.
I wanted to keep the bolt so the pushrod wouldn't mangle the aluminum piston in the master, and so I could adjust the clearance.

Be careful not to pull the rod in the booster too far forward, as you risk losing the reaction disc inside the booster.

how do u know if u have lost the reaction disk in the booster?

i have not done it yet but dont know if anyone else has stuffed around with it in the past.

i may grab a spare booster from the wreckers so i can fit the master first so i can get everything lined up then put it in the car.

The brake pedal will have a long travel and go from nothing to throwing you through the windscreen in a split second.

You will know if its happened!
