Hi all, my brother bought a VT recently which has factory gas. He got it reasonably cheap due to it not running perfectly. It runs fine when driving and is actually very smooth however it idles very poorly. Thought it was a easy fix but after doing a full service and running the car on just petrol there has been very little change. The car has become slightly better on idle but not by much. The old spark plugs were very black and nearly completely burnt out. Looking for any suggestions on what might be the problem and things I should check as I'm not hugely familiar with these cars. Thanks

Cheers, will give the throttle body a clean and look at changing the O2 sensor. What else would be worth looking at? Wanting this car to purr like a kitten when idling.

Clean the iac and maf. Also leads if you didn't do those with plugs. Unrelated to gas, but may as well change the fuel filter

So far recommendation have been....

- Clean Throttle Body
- Clean Idle Air Control
- Clean Air Flow Meter
- Replace Spark Plug Leads (If not done during service)
- Replace Fuel Filter (If not done during Service)
- Replace O2 Sensor (If problem persists)

Is there anything else I should add to that list?

No, that`s a good start so get on to them and most likely it will fix the issue.

How many O2 Sensors should a VT have? Its just a standard 3.8L if that makes any difference.

Thanks for all the assistance everyone, should be able to get around to giving those things a go Friday. Will hopefully let you all know how it goes.

If the vac line from throttle body that runs under intake manifold comes off this makes them idle shithouse as well check that too.
