Ok, I know this is an old subject, but I havent found anything on manual controlled ac, vacuum leak problems.
Same as other threads, normal driving air comes out face vents, but under load it goes straighg to demist. Im under the understanding that non climate control commodores dont have a vacuum tank. Could really do with some help with this please

There are lots of threads on this subject.
Just type 'vacuum leak' into the search feature, on the VT/VX page.

You will definitely have a vacuum leak some where.
When there is a leak, the vent settings will automatically set to demist/windscreen.
Check this hose (picture below) for proper connection and condition.

You will just have to check all the vacuum hoses associated with the vent controls.

All the models have the vacuum tank.
It's there, so there's constant vacuum pressure for the vents, under low manifold vacuum.
It's situated beside the blower motor, under the glove box.

I had the same issue with my old car. Vy ecotec. Turned out to be a vacuum hose from back of the engine. They just pop out
