The tail shaft won't fit.

Not sure about the ECU side of things as it could be the same as a VSIII.

Does the ECU communicate with the BCM in these cars? you may need to get some reprogramming/wiring to get it work in the VS.

Hang on, do you have a V8 stato that you are putting a manual into, or did you mean it's a V6 stato, and you are putting a VT V8 manual in?

5ltr manual conversion into 5ltr Stato.

The ECU and BCM aren't linked in the VS, but this could still be a problem if you use the VT ECU. Maybe get a 5ltr auto ECU and have the memcal retuned to suit, the I'm led to believe the Getrag and auto setups use the same speed sender, so there shouldn't be too many issues.

In regards to the ECU you can run an Auto ECU and MEMCAL if you really needed to, it's only the other way around you will run into problems, and that's only for the 4l60'e box.

If the donor car is a V6 then you can still use the V6 ECU but swap out the memcal for a V8 one.

Make sure to keep the inhibitor switch on your VS and flick it to N or P before (even bridge the wires) tucking it away otherwise it will think the car is in gear and wont start.

You will need a new tail shaft, pretty cheap these days from the wreckers, and just be sure that your clutch cable doesn't rest on the power steering hard lines on the top side of the steering rack, it will eventually rub through and cause you dramas.
