Hi,
I recently had my VT2 9C1 Auto serviced. Replaced the rocker cover gaskets. Post the service my car does pretty much the same as the VS in this thread. The car has done about 265,000 (all with me!)

Trasnmission/ Egine knocks between 80-100km/h when in D, mostly at freeway speeds when needing to speed up gently or if you have had a big coast (like the big Greenbourough highway hill if you are in Melbourne) when you get to the top and try to take off again with some throttle it does it again.
It's not consistent, and there are no problems in the other gears.
It will do it occasionally with the cruise on as well depending on the rise of the hill. Accelerates fine at every other speed with an occasional usual knock in first/ first to second these trannys do.
They had removed the throttle body to get the passenger side gasket off and somehow some amazing slack in my throttle cable + breaking the plastic threads on the old cable- I think they buggered it so I go it replaced at my cost. Thought that was the cause, alas not.
They have over filled the tranny fluid and it does have bubbles on the stick. Not smelling burnt and is still clear. But after going back the mechanic say it should be fine!. Could the fault be as simple as too much transmission fluid or is this a torque converter coincidence?
If it is the converter, what's it going to cost me to get it replaced- obviously not doing it myself! A bit bloody dark at the moment as the missus is having chemo and this is the main ride, don't want the car shi**ing itself halfway to hospital!!
cheers
