G'day guys,
I've an VZ SS V8 Crewman which was running perfectly until Monday when hit a (large) puddle and now running rough.
Also using 3 times the amount of fuel with no power. Previously running avg 13-15l/100.....now 36l/100 and as rough as guts.

Runs perfect on start-up & cold.

Mechanic spent day on it as no fault codes showing.

Any ideas?

Thanks

The sudden quenching of your oxygen sensors could have ruined them?

Is your air-filter water logged/clogged/damaged/still wet , take it out and see how it runs .

Sounds like O2 sensors, check their wiring, or test operation or just replace. I'd just be putting new ones in.

On cold start a car is in open loop mode and ignores O2 sensors, using predetermined fuel/air ratios, once it's warmed up it switches to closed loop and uses O2 sensors to determine ratios. Seems to suit your dilemma.....

Thanks Guys.
Yep spot on. just disconnected the 2 sensors and running fine. reconnected one at a time to find faulty one. 15 mins. Sorted

Why the mechanic couldn't do this is beyond me. Time for a new Mechanic I think. Plus he wants to charge me 5 hours labour at $90/hr.

Apology to the mechanic.....I think.

Drove for 2 days with only 1 sensor connected and runs fine.

Bought new one & installed. Fault back. Doesn't matter which I disconnect (new or old/ left or right) but wont run properly with both.

Any ideas?

Is there an issue with running only 1? (Obviously I'd prefer to get the problem sorted)

Blow the O2 sockets/plugs out with compressed air and reconnect.
