weird electrical issue leaves car dead

ok have the weirdest issue

i put in a new hot and cold relay (fixed my overheat issues)

since then i've had this issue where the car ends up having no electrical power after turning the car off but I doubt the issues are related

so basically you go home from work and the car is dead stick in the car park

car does not start but clicks, dash lights up and then everything dies

now you can do a jump start and it goes

but i replaced the battery anyway and it still does it every so often

however i found that you can pull the terminal and put it back on and then it fires up as if there's nothing wrong!

dash say 13.8v so everything is good

what's the go? earth? ecu?

its an LS1 manual btw.

obd2 says everything is fine

Bad earth or battery clamps need a good clean.

wen u say the dash read 13.8V is this while the car is running on idle? it should b above 14V but still thats not 2 bad which makes me wonder wat about wen all accessories is on so the system is under alot of load? put everything on that u can find that needs power, crank the stero also and measure. if it drops below 13V it could well just b ur regulator not charging the battery enough so could b on its way out. u should b looking at least 13V, more so 13.5V under heavy load.

Do u have a multimeter? somtimes the dash read out can vary slightly.

i have pretty much no accessories in this car... just a plain single deck + speakers... i'm not into audio

this is the thing... if the car fires, it FIRES

ie. dash says the volts are fine before it starts and it goes

but if it dies you get no electrics at all

its just annoying to pop the bonnet and reseat the terminals to get it to fire

i'll clean the terminals... there was some corrossion but i changed it at 5.15pm after buying a battery at Repco.

doesnt matter still crank the stereo, the louder u have it, obviosuly it will still b trying 2 take power from ur alternator. Put lights, hi beams hazards, aircon, demisters anything u can think of wack it on and test (these r called accessories). Even do the test with the car off, it'll show how many volts its trying 2 pull.

u said it still clicks, 2 me seems like a dying battery as the starter is still trying 2 kick it over but doesnt have enough volts 2 do so. ur battery mayb good but it could b ur regulator thats not charging it.

still do the checks and report it'll help us help u.

nah it clicks once then goes complelely dead no power, no nothing

all dash lights off, radio gets reset, can't run the electric windows, as if battery is disconnected

reset terminal, its back to normal

something real odd is going on

ahh clicks was misleading haha sorry man ignore wat i suggested then.

can u determain where the click is comming from? is it a relay click or other? had a similar thing happen 2 the misus old gemini but i doubt it would b the same haha turned out 2 b a fault ignition switch behind the barrel. (havent heard of these fail really i dont think).

mayb its got somthing 2 do with the relay u replaced? is it the right part ect...? wat does this do exactly?

this car has a ####ed barrel (ie. the key pulls straight out when the car is running)

the low and high speed fan relays i replaced because they weren't kicking in so the local spark shop said just replace thing because its a cheap fix... the car would go over 110% on a hot day but since i'm lazy i didn't fix them for ages since this car has good cooling

could be either/both who knows
