Looks like I'm going to go thru the dealer in adelaide...

I'll drive it home...

Used to do it in a day in my VY SS... have family in adelaide so I know the drive...

However running in the car needs a bit more sporadic play on the revs doesn't it?

That's a good point you bring up Hobbit.
From memory, the owners manual states that you shouldn't drive at a constant speed/rpm for an extended period of time for the first 1500km.
Certainly something to think about for those doing an 800km+ trip straight out of the dealership.

Yeah... only issue I see... my trip will be about 1100 door to door... might have to make a long weekend of it and go via Melbourne and coast road and stop along the way...

Either that or fly down for the delivery, see it onto a truck and then fly back to meet it.

varying the load and revs would not be fun for 1100km.

I wouldn't worry about it. From what I I have read, running a car in these days is overrated. Good that your going interstate as Canberra dealers will not negotiate as they know there is only one other dealer in competition with them. They don't care.

Yeah... would have liked to have bought here for convenience, but when you can save 3-4K intestate it makes sense to shop around

Your not going to damage it. Row it through some gears randomly while you drive, you don't need to change speed, just revs. Give it some load as soon as it it warm, but don't thrash it. By 500k you should be able to start giving it a few more revscand have a bit of fun without redlining it. At 1000k, drive it like you stole it. That's conservative.
