This is the only Commo or even car forum I'm on.

I think I found SC just as it was failing. Either them or another. They wanted to take most of a week to OK every post !! Forum won't work that way. Heaps of stuff in the 'How to's here, and a big mix of beginners and old hands.

Have seen some new players get some really good simple advice here. Very nice to see.

Had an account there... used it a few times for info when I bought my 1st HSV Senator in 1996(VS), but got sick an tired of the 14/15yr old's wanting 900HP, 1L/100km from their V6 3.8L in their VX GTS/SV300 they own.(TROLLLLLLLLLSSSSSSSSS)

Pity about all that info lost... :(

I never much like the SC forum but there was a lot of good info.

Never got past how badly it was run. I think the mag isn't much better TBH.

I'd be quite surprised if you were only on this car forum.

That awkward moment when you make a comment like this to the owner of the forum :/

Agreed, this forum is great and I hope it sticks around for many years to come.

As for SC, I didn't even realise it had been taken down. I tried getting on there recently to have a browse and I couldn't work out why it wasn't working.

I also used to visit the LS1 forum but that place is dead as a doornail these days. There is hardly any activity and the same threads are stuck there for weeks/months on end, so I don't even bother anymore.

Forum was moderated by the magazine writers & a few gurus hence some really good info kept on site then when they dumped all the writers/moderators the forum sunk like titanic, the magazine even quicker.

Seemed like forum was more social nature but there were some great early girl build threads also kept a lot of syd/nsw peeps in contact with car scene much like CT site for vl owners in Vic or another site for HV8 lovers.

Maybe just sign of the times different car culture today or less interest in rebuilding old cars vs buying new or most people find it too hard- unaffordable.

Ironically Street Machine magazine was in major slump nobody bought it now it's resurged as only decent magazine left.

Cant remember last time saw one of those SC mags maybe they're gone.

Somehow all that reminds me of Greenfoam threads.

When I first joined this forum was extremely busy, but I noticed it really taper off in the last 24 months or so. Looks like the forum update's really helped to promote the participation of members - I haven't seen it this busy in a long time.

It's modern and much more user friendly than it was before. Well done Darren.

On an unrelated note, AV8 really needs an update - another great forum for the older cars. Would be sad so see it go. I suppose the biggest obstacle is making the forums seem like a more attractive means of getting info, as opposed to social media like Facebook etc. So much incorrect information on fb it makes me cringe.
