It depends on the Shock.
Some have indexed shafts with changing flow rates over the length of the shock. If you have this type of gear, the shock may be sitting at a lower flow point in the valving, meaning it's response is harder. Impacts will transfer through to cabin more, and your kidneys will hate you.
Forget what anyone else says - lowered springs means inner tyre edge wear. Period. Some builds are better, but they all suffer.
Theres no advantage to lowering on the street, except looks, swag, wank factor and the size of cannon you can fit before your testes start riding your forehead.
