Where is the switch/sensor for the interior lights on my car ???????
Ive looked on all the doors and cant find anything ...
I want to add footwell LEDs that turn on when the door is open but just cant find where the trigger is ????
Im starting to think that it is in the key electronics ???
Or do I have to add an extra switch somewheres ??
thx :idea3:

I believe it's part of the door catch mechanism.

Your best bet is to connect to the BCM, which is located underneath the steering wheel column, drivers side, behind the dash (Up and behind the headlight switch).
If you connect here, then the fade function, interior lights On on unlocking, etc will work, and apart from it being a pain in the butt to get to the wiring,
once you have spliced in you can add the factory footwell lamps, factory door lamps, interior door lamp lights, and even puddle lamps if you are feeling saucy.

What you want to connect to is the BCM X2 Connector, Pin 5 for the Supply Voltage, and just use a ground from anywhere.

Thx Zerone_V heaps
so just to get this clear in my non auto electrical head
OK so I find pin No5 on the BCM , or dark blue with white tracer wire under the dash and use that for a power supply for the new footwell lights ??( and they will work with the interior lights when they are on now ???) and of course an earth somewhere
And when that works I also want to add "Puddle lights" to the doors .
All the lights I want to fit will be L E D s
Big question can I add all of these extra lights to that power supply or will it overload that electrical system on the car ???

There is always a plan B ....
Do I just buy a torch ???

cheers

Shouldnt be an issue they dont draw enough current to cause problems.
