I've been having a debate with a fellow member in another thread about this topic, and to clear up that thread from off topic posts I've started this one.
My point is that for cheap performance, tunability, amd ways to upgrade, nothing comes close to an LS1. The point has been made that bolt-on LS1s are into the 11's, and that XR6Ts are into the 10s with the standard turbo. Another point was made that the Ford's turbo starts to sruggle upward of 380kw. My major point is, to make the GenIII faster you can;
1)open the engine keeping it atmo
2)keep the engine closed and go forced induction.
3)go both.
Then there's the forced induction options;
1)centrifugal supercharger
2)screw type supercharger
3)both
4)single turbo
5)twin turbo
Another point to be made is that both types of supercharging, and the single and twin turbo set ups are available in kit form, helping reduce the cost of the items.
However, with the XR6T, all you can do is open the engine and upgrade the turbo (and intercooler accordingly).
So, what's everyone else's opinions on which is better - LS1 or XR6? Please avoid fuel economy, there are other threads about that.
kill -9, I'd just like to appologise for attacking you personally in the other thread. Bad form on my part.
