how much does a good High flow cat cost fitted. So do u guys thing it is more worth it getting extractors than a high flow cat How much do A good set of extractors cost fitted thanx for ya help thomasr.
Gday around $400 - $900 For Extractors depends on material ie stainless- mild steel, type of bend whether manderal or press bent. There is also a interferecence (TRI Y) or collector type (4 into 1). TRI Y is suited for for street race providing good low to mid range tourque where as the 4 into 1 type offers better top end power.4 into 1 r for many street cars used on a day 2 day basis and where the Tri Y type is usally for High Horsepower cars. I got a full lukey system on My Vn Calais v6 and i recomend them to anyone with a commodore. U got a vast range of brands like pacemaker,HM Headers - "HSV Manufacture", Genie, Capa, Advanced Headers,Di Fillipo, Hurricane - cheaper alternative ... . High Flow cats r under $100 buks. The Cats not as noticable as extractors. But Stock Headers are fine if you wanna keep 2 a budget with sports muffler". For expert advice see an exhaust specialist, find out what each brand has 2 offer as each has there own specail coatings, way of manufacturing and designs. Do ya homework, check out the prices and let me know how u went. Hope that helped. SUBDUE![]()
hello,
i have put together the info below for anyone looking to turn your standard vt in a unique beast!
1. To start we would change the wheels and lower the car - basic stuff. find a nice pair of rims that you like.
2. Now add a body kit
Centrifugal Air Pumps Australia - they have some nice basic kits for the vt , im went with the VY GTS Style Kit .
they also stock the VT Clear Tail Lights, in Silver or Black Finish.
also check out JHP Vehicle Enhancements - Specialise in Holden Monaro and Commodore Spoilers, Body Kits, Tyre and Wheel Packages. for some bits and pieces.
im not a fan of the AERO kits but u can find out for yourself if u want one fitted.
3.Then the Exhaust System
When it comes to the exhaust system use a Berklee or lukey 2.5 inch sports exhaust system. This system will provide the ultimate flow of gases from the engine, improving performance and enhancing sound. you can have this system and fully installed in just a couple of hours.
4. EXTRACTORS / (headers - same ****!)
here is some info on them if u dont already know...
Tuned Length Extractors
They work exceptionally well in the high rev range and ideal for drag racing.
TRI-Y Design Extractors
The most common design of extractors, Tri-y extractors give you more power in the rev range that you use on the street.
As a general rule you should anticipate an increase in power, performance and fuel economy of around 10% under normal driving conditions.
5 great reasons to fit extractors to your car:
1. You'll get up to 15% better fuel economy.
2. You'll get increased performance.
3. You'll get more torque.
4. You'll get a cooler and cleaner running engine.
5. Your Auto transmission will run cooler.
We'd use a set of Pacemaker Headers which are top of the range for the VT V6 Commodore. These extractors will improve your cars performance and power and can also improve engine efficiency and fuel economy under normal driving conditions.
5.SS INDUCTION KIT
SS Induction Kits are designed to get more cool air into your engine. Cool air has more oxygen than warm air, therefore increasing combustion which results More power, better performance, better fuel economy and increased acceleration. u can get them at autobahn on the day and are easy to fit.
so your exuast set up should go like this:
Muffler (straight through) Enhances sound!
Hi-flow cat converter Better flow than standard.
Extractors Improves power & efficiency!
2.5 inch system Delivers better performance!
SS Induction Kit Get faster acceleration!
thats the basics for the vt, you can then really tweak it with changen the diff, pushrods, etc etc.
hope this helps! enjoy.......

when i changed the pushrods in my car. throttle response was 100% better, hp gain would be aorund the 20hp at the wheels mark also. best money i ever spent on a standard motor.
pushrods? im intrigued - must reduce rotating mass, but 20hp? did you make any other changes at the same time? cause thats a big claim, i think i want too! who makes em? cheers. also - is this for the vn or the vs?
Hello I am a new member of this website!
I have a 1996 vs commodore series II, and apparently I have an exhaust manifold gasket leak on the passenger side.....is that the extractors?
Yepposted in a less than ideal thread for a question like this, but yes that's the gasket between motor and exhaust I'd assume.

hi i'm in southeast queensland and iv had my ve for about a year now i still love it but i was looking to do something to it that i haven't seen befor if any one knows where i can get it made into a convertable would you please point me in the right direction
Bunnings/Mitre 10 sell angle-grinders for between $100-200, with the cutting disks retailing for about $30.
Then all you need to do is buy some plastic for the roof and the whole convertible conversion can be done by yourself for less than $500 =)
Other than that, the VE could never become a convertible, the A-pillars are already large enough and the extra strength required for the frame to be structurally sound (in the event of a rollover) would mean those pillars would have to be even larger.
Holden did release a once off convertible monaro, but the cost blew out to something ridiculous, just short of $200K due to all the engineering difficulties associated with the frame being structurally strong enough.
