whenever I turn left I hear a clunking noise. What could cause this? Turning right is fine..

Ive checked under the bonnet and also around the wheel arch but nothing is loose or anything.

Thanks

my VT did this recently, was a bush and washer that popped off from the link rod (i think thats what its called) at the end of the stabilisaer bar. if you look behinde your front suspension you should be able to see if it has popped off.

all of the above will do it!

ever replaced the steering rack?
turn your wheel all the way to the RIGHT and check behind your left tyre for the sway bar linkage from the top of the strut to the swaybar down below. make sure it looks just the same as the one on the other side.
maybe a bearing plate also?
is the left side of the car any lower than the right?
jack your car up on the left side and try wobbling the wheel side to side, DONT GET UNDER IT! if it wobbles a bit, maybe a ball joint there?
is there any kind of grinding noise when you come under brakes aorund 20kmh or so? :)
if its any of these things, any Quickfit, Bob Janes or Beaus will sort you out no problems for about 100-150 if your not mechanically minded!

Well I just had a good look at mine with the mechanic up the road.

He thinks its power steering rack & wheel bearing is rooted.

Taking it to get fixed on tuesday

woah woah woah... the whole rack? careful mate, dont let him con ya into spending a fortune or a reco rack!
the wheel wobbling about when the cars up in the air indicates probably a ball joint
if it was the wheel bearing, you'd have a nasty grinding noise when doing up to 20 kmh.
if it was the whole rack, it'd be noisy as hell either way you turn it and you'd have crap steering all round

GET A SECOND OPINION!!!! lol i hate to see anyone get done over by mechanics
