Glove box lock

Yesterday I broke my glovebox lock in my VS.

My cd case got jammed in it somehow and I broke the lock while trying to un-jam it.

If I just grab a replacement lock from the wreckers - will my key still work?

If not, will I have to go to Holden for a replacement?

Thanks in advance.

The glovebox key is different to the ignition key but still individual to each car - maybe if you got a lock from a wrecker you could swap the key barrel over. Try to disassemble your broken lock to see if it can be done. Good Luck.

Very difficult to dissasemble - the plastic parts are very weak and snap when you try and take the key barrel out.

That indicates just how safe your valuable are when 'locked' in the glovebox!. I've seen commercial travellers who bolt a box under the seat that they can slide things into. They rig up a solenoid operated lock operated by a hidden switch to open it and in has a sliding drawer which you slide out to get out what you've stored there. If its only CD's you are storing there you dont need a lock.

lock jammed

easy..just buy a new lock and take it to a locksmith and get them to key it to the original glove box key
