Rusty brake pipes

My trusty old '93 VR Ute has very rusty rear brake pipes. Pretty much every brake pipe from the fuel filter back is rusted. And with it being a ute (load sensing brakes), there are alot of rusty pipes.

Should I get them all replaced? Or am I just worrying about nothing?

Thanks. :bang:

TT Supra/HZ Ute.
Brake lines are pretty thick but I would start worrying if they begin to leak.

Other than that you could have them replaced as a precaution.

Replace them now...you won't know if they're leaking till the brakes fail when you've got the tray full of gravel and you're going down Bulli Pass. Shouldn't cost much from a wrecker.

Well. Decision has been just made for me. Went down to the shops and my brakes failed. Lucky I was only going slow. Looked under the tray and looks like one of the rusted pipes cracked. Got home ok and looks like I'll get the whole lot replaced on Monday. Bloody scary losing brake power even @ 30 km/ph.

I think Commodore ones are "Bundy" pipes - steel with cadmium plating and are industry standard. Copper and alloy pipes are illegal for boosted brake systems - I think it's an ADR.

Hako is correct, they are Bundy pipes. I had 1 of the lines replaced a couple of years ago and the invoice says "bundy" pipe.

so they shouldn't rust unless you park the car on a boat ramp all day every day
