I did a search and couldnt find anything to help me so... Anyways I bought some 18" rims off a mate and they kinda look like they arent gonna fit.. Looks like the wheel sticks out a bit too far. I havent put the car on the ground to find out as its up on high stands undergoing a 5 speed con. The rims came off a VP Calais and need to know if they are gonna fit. Thanks for any help.

If I remember right here is a short history of wheels and track widths for VN-VS commodores.
VN had same front track as VL but 20mm wider rear track, wheels (7") 37-38mmP offset
VN SV5000 and groupA had same diff as VL with wheels (8") and 30mmP offset
VP IRS narrowed rear track to match fronts (like the VL diff used in the VN) with wheels (8") 40mm offset (don't fill wheel wells as well as VN's 38P wheels.
VR-VS Wider front track 40mm Rear wider about 8mm same offset as VP but wheels stick out more.
The problem wheels are the 16 x 8" SV5000 and 17 x 8" GroupA wheels as both have 30mmP offset which means they stick 10mm further out than normal 8" wheels.
Some aftermarket wheels made for the VP irs also use the 30mm offset which when used on VR-VS's will stick out a further 10mm.
Hope that clears up a few questions.
