hey,
so i got a new front bar with fog lights! monaro v2 with hsv lights and hsv fogs.
it need a paint but for the price o well..
how do i go about wiring. yes i did my search but i cant find the wiring. noting behind the front bar, near the lights. even pulled the dash out to find that clip but noting...
car is a vt s pack s1.
if the wiring is not hidden in some wack place how do i go about puting wiring in? to run the std holden fog light switch
cheers?
I have a VT Acclaim and it does not have fog lights but the wiring is there.I saw it while I was changing my front bar. It is attached on the outside ends of the sub frame near the ends of the bumper support panel/bar. As for the switch wiring, I have not looked for that but would guess that it is somewhere behind where the switch would be on the right hand end of the dashboard near the steering column shroud. That is where my owners manual shows the switch even tho I don't have one.
nop no wiring at all for fog lights
any one know where the wiring goes from the back of the switch?
any one?????
VT Fog Light Fitting
Might be some help for you in this thread.
I would tap the wire that goes from the headlight cabin switch to the headlights, and than make it go through a fog light switch. That way the fog lights only turn on with the headlights and you can have a button that allows you to turn them off any time.
Cause lets face it, you look like an idiot with only fog lights on and no headlights.

yer not much wiring in that thread, it has it every thing about this car fights with me but o well. its a s pack but not dam wiring.
i done up a wiring diagram but not so sure about this std switch, it it was a normal off on switch its fine but dam holden.
from what holden manual tells me theres 8 pins coming from the back of the switch? but only find what 7 are for? any one know or can confirm?
pin ares -
1- park lights
2-fogs
3-fogs
4-fogs
5-fogs
6- not sure
7-illum +
8-illum -
7-8 are the only ones i know as there for the light in the switch. the rest? im lost???
i can c whys there 4 fogs, 2+ and 2- but..... off the relay theres only 1 wire going to the switch??
any one got a holden wiring diagram? my greyorys book only shows 2 wires going and the holden diagram shows 8 pins?
for some wack reason my holden manual wont open wiring diagrams![]()
hey mate i just wired up a set of foglights for my vy s... i didnt have any of the wiring but i got a new switch from holden with the built in foglight switch and the relay... i ran the wire from the relay through a hole i drilled near where the bonnet release wire goes through... on the back of the switch i ran the wire into the space next to the black wire... it took some bastardising with a drill and a small relay pin adaptor thingy from jaycar but it works just fine... i dunno if the vt is the same but if you want anymore info about wiring em up let me know cause i think i got every problem i could have when i was wiring them up lol
From experience fog lights should only be used with parkers (maybe low beam) otherwise they are of no use because high beams reflect off the fog. They are not like driving lights that are only to be hooked up and operate with high beam. Through a separate switch to isolate them of course.
I aim to misbehave.
thats why i put the holden switch in cause you can run them in a few difference configurations easily... but the foglights are just as bright as the headlights so you get just as much light from them its just more spread out which is the ideaFrom experience fog lights should only be used with parkers (maybe low beam) otherwise they are of no use because high beams reflect off the fog. dr is there any chance u could do up a qucik diagram? with colours and where they went on the back of the switch??
still waiting for holden to open tommorm to c how much they want for this switch
yeah sure only problem is i dont want to take the switch out as it is kinda delicate but i do have a photo of it before i put it back in... i paid just over $80 for both the switch and the relay... get the relay from holden its a whole lot easier... you wont have to rewire the back of the switch up if thats what your asking the loom just clips out and then you only have to add the new connection in
The wire from the relay is that large green wire you can see with the exposed copper... its right next to the black earthing wire
hmm, vy fog lights are part of the light switch tho? or is there another switch just for fog lights?
When you go to holden tell them you want a new headlight switch for a vt commo with the foglight switch built into it... im pretty sure the switches are the same for vt and vy so to me it would be the same... cause mine didnt have any of the wiring there i had to put everything in myself... thats why i got the new switch from holden as my old one didnt have the foglights switch on ithmm, vy fog lights are part of the light switch tho? or is there another switch just for fog lights?
vt vx have there own switch for fog lights ,
its not a build in one,
and becuase of some wack rule now in qld u cant use fog lights unless its a dam fog..........
need to chase down a connector for the back of the light? can any one confirm if there the same as the hazards? if i cant find a one for fog lights..........
i went to repco and got a Narvo connector from there although you only need half of it... i havent got any part numbers or anything for it but if you look at it you can tell they are the same... that or take your foglights in and see if the connector fits firstneed to chase down a connector for the back of the light? can any one confirm if there the same as the hazards? if i cant find a one for fog lights..........
Do they have little green weather seals?
If they are anything like the two pin connectors I had on my fog lights before I removed them they were Weather-Pack connectors made by Delphi. That should speed things up if you get a numptie at the store.
I aim to misbehave.
yeah they have that green weather seal on the Narvo ones as well
This is out of a catalogue at work, with part numbers. Hopefully this'll help.
I aim to misbehave.
went to a self service wreckers today and got all the clips and wiring i need. every thing but the fog light switch but using a spare hazard switch atm till i get round to geting a new one.
should all work out as long as i find a place to run the wires to the switch from the motor
i drilled a hole down on the drivers side where the bonnet release wire runs through... you can get a cordless drill in there and although you cant drill quite straight its a pretty good spot as there arent any wires near there and its also not very noticeable from either the drivers side or in the engine bayshould all work out as long as i find a place to run the wires to the switch from the motor
I have just got a VY headlight switch with the pullout fog function and Auto, and I want to install it in my VX Berlina but i am having issues with the wiring, I need to know what each pin is for so i can make it work with the existing wiring in my VX, I hope this makes sence
