Hi
My brother has a VZ commodore (auto)
I took it for a drive today as he said it was not running right.

I found that when i start the car the revs got to 1000 down to 500 then upto 700 rpm.
when it drops from 1000 to 500 it sounds like it wants to stall.

When i drive off there is no real acceleration, like it takes 20 seconds to get to 60km per hour and going up a little hill cant go over 60km/hr
car does go pass 80km but takes awhile. It cruises ok.

i put car in neutral and cant go pass 4000 rpm but dont know if this is from a limiter or not.

car was service about 2 weeks ago and a new battery replaced today.
he didnt drive it much since the service.
he put 1/2 tank of fuel in on friday.

any ideas on what could be causing this issue?
bad fuel
spark plugs

no idea lol.

cheers

How many K's? Could be either fuel or spark. Pull one of your plugs out and have a look. Also check fuel filter isnt clogged up. and pull intake off and make sure the TB and Maf sensor are both clean as the electronic throttle get get sticky if its too dirty

Of course, it goes without saying that prolong usage of fuel ( all fuel has some dirt in it) will cause the filter to clog up, BUT when the OP asked for a solution for "car not accelerating", "Jwaye" suggested to check the fuel filter, so the OP replaced the fuel filter and all is good, so it was the FUEL FILTER which needs to be replaced every so often anyway because it gets clogged up. SO the problem was the clogged fuel filter and NOT the fuel per se. If he just changed the fuel and put clean fuel in the car, it would not have solved the problem. I hope I made myself clear. :)
Yeah, but what CAUSED the dirty FUEL FILTER lol..
