hi mace engineering i was just wondering what would
be some cheap and quick mods to a 1997 vs so i could have a bit more power
thanks ... jbourke09

Bang for buck you can't go past a set of higher ratio rockers  However to be able to better answer your question if you could give us a round about figure for which your willing to spend that would help, as you can do a hell of a lot with these engines :yeah:

hey mace iv got a cold air induction on my 1997 vs ute and was woundering how much of a difference ur bigger throttle body would make and what there worth thanks mate

Maces website claims about 5kw at the rear wheels i think. But you would probably get a decent torque gain out of them aswell. With a 14% increase in airflow, it should get you a little extra HP.

Hey Christo92,

azza77 has pretty much summed up the benefits of a larger throttle body, with the exception of a price which is $220

Cheers
Steve:thumbsup:

Well it depends on your budget. If you wanted a few more bolt ons then I would recommend, our cold air intake kit or larger throttle body. If your willing to do more then I would suggest one of our cam and chip packages.

ok well to start off with how much for the cold air intake and throttle body? and how big is the throttle body, would 90 mm be too big?, because with a bigger throttle body wouldnt i need bigger injectors as there is more air you need more fuel? any way get back to me on prices for these 2 items, as a mate has a vn s2 and he wants the throttle body and cold air intake for his 2, so i will be buying 2 of every item as well, so yea how much for the cold air intake and throttle body,

we will talk about cam and chip package later, as i am not too sure how to do cams, i can do everything else, but neva dealt with bare heads lol.

cheers again

vn sv-enhanced v6
how much does this all cost

i have a vn sv enhanced v6 which is shot-i would love to know what a total rebuild high performance kit would cost very interested to know as am in the process of finding a mechanic to fully reco (with all high performance parts)-a total cost for parts would be awesome-many thanks jessiepal38

HIGH RATIO ROLLER ROCKERS

High ratio (1.9:1) & ultra high ratio (1.98:1) roller rockers (stock ratio is 1.65:1) to suit EcoTec V6’s in both naturally aspirated and supercharged form (L36 and L67 engines). A very cost effective way to bump up the performance of your late model Commodore, by increasing valve lift thereby allowing your engine to breathe much more efficiently.

COLD AIR INTAKE MANIFOLD INSULATORS

Manifold insulators are a thermal insulating spacer that mounts between your upper and lower intake manifold. Made from a heat blocking composite, our manifold insulators will increase power from your engine by keeping the intake cooler, and increase low end torque by increasing runner length. Available in both 12mm & 25mm thicknesses for the ecotec & 12mm for the alloytec. Increases low end power by at least 10%!

CNC PRECISION PORTED THROTTLE BODY

CNC precision ported throttle body is enlarged to a final diameter of 70mm for VN-VR V6 & to a final diameter of 69mm for VS-VY, increasing maximum airflow by over 30%. Backed up by testing, gains of around 10 HP at the rear wheels are to be had if used in conjunction with extractors/exhaust and cold air intake. A greater power gain can be achieved if more mods have been undertaken such as a larger cam, supercharger etc…

MASS AIRFLOW METERS

Installing a large MAF is a very cost effective way to bump up the performance of your late model commodore by significantly increasing air flow through the intake. Available in both 74mm and 85mm.

PERFORMANCE PLENUM SPACER

A Plenum spacer is a special spacer that sits between your plenum cover and intake manifold. It's main purpose is to improve air distribution between cylinders by slowing down the air speed inside the plenum chamber. As a result there is less of a pressure drop inside the plenum chamber between cylinders, and less air momentum, resulting in better air distribution and power. Available in both 12mm & 25mm thickness.

COLD AIR INTAKE ENCLOSURES

New generation cold air intake/boxes to suit Commodores VB-VZ and Statesmans from VN-VZ, which are a direct bolt on drop-in replacement for your existing air box assembly. The kits include an all new air box, airflow meter safe pod filter, along with mounting hardware required for complete installation.

mace just curious, your ultra high rockers got an expected figure of 16-26kws gain, you got any figure yet on gains for the 2.15 with the head package? much higher, lower torque curve?

thanks

Figures seem to be a bit more then the 1.98:1's, BUT there will be much more scope for power with a custom tune as will be shown shortly. It won't surprise me if we make over 150kw at the wheels and around 160kw at the wheels in an auto and manual ecotec respectively with this package :yeah:

hey mace, with the bigger 85mm MAF sensors, what kind of power increases would i be looking at vt v6
and how much?

also on your website it says you need to reprogram the computer. is that something i can do or will it need to goto a ECU specialist? if so any idea on what thatd cost?
