Looking at getting the VE’s windows tinted so did a little research to find out what is legal in South Australia, and what did I find? Window tinting laws in Australia are a joke!!!!!
Did you know that factory tinted vehicles are not subject to the same laws as aftermarket tinting, so in South Australia I can only have 35% on my windows while my neighbour who drives an imported Japanese car can have 5% privacy factory tint on all windows behind the driver.

The Window Film Association of Australia and New Zealand has an online petition to get the laws changed

Automotive: Australian Design Rules

and a facebook page

it's the same scenario everywhere.
there's no way those big bug catcher style bonnet scoops fitted from factory on WRX's would be allowed to be fitted as an aftermarket scoop because they wouldn't comply with the rules. But as it's factory fitted, and the vehicle has been approved under Australian Design Rules, then the bonnet scoop is permitted.

had 35% on the front and 18% on the rears pass a roady twice without any troubles...

Obviously never come across a cop with a light meter, Consider yourself lucky.

And trust me, You don't want 5%, You can't see out of it at night.

Cheers
